Frequently Asked Questions

What does a 2:1 mix ratio mean?

A 2:1 ratio means two parts resin (Part A) to one part hardener (Part B) by volume. For every 2 liters of Part A, you add 1 liter of Part B, giving a total of 3 liters of mixed product.

Is the mix ratio by volume or by weight?

Most epoxy floor coating systems specify the mix ratio by volume. Some high-performance systems use weight ratios — always check your product's technical data sheet. Select the matching unit (L, mL, gal for volume; kg for weight) in this calculator.

Can I mix a partial kit?

Yes — enter the exact amount you need to mix as the total, and the calculator will output the correct Part A and Part B quantities for that batch. The ratio must remain the same regardless of batch size.

What happens if the ratio is off?

Deviating from the specified mix ratio — even by 5–10% — can result in incomplete curing, a soft or tacky finish, delamination, or reduced chemical resistance. Always measure accurately, especially for small batches.

  • Always refer to your product's technical data sheet (TDS) for the correct mix ratio — ratios vary between products
  • For by-weight systems, use the kg unit; for by-volume systems, use Liters, mL, or Gallons
  • Pigment is typically pre-blended into Part A by the manufacturer — do not adjust the A:B ratio to account for it
  • Mix thoroughly for the full time specified on the TDS — undermixing causes soft spots even when the ratio is correct
