What is epoxy flooring?
Epoxy flooring is a hard-wearing resin coating applied over a prepared concrete slab. Two parts — resin and hardener — are mixed and rolled on, then cure into a seamless, chemical-resistant surface. It's used on garage floors, workshops, showrooms and warehouses, often finished with decorative flake or a metallic effect. What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic floor coatings?
Epoxy builds a thick, durable base layer but cures slowly — usually a day before foot traffic. Polyaspartic cures much faster, handles UV and temperature swings better, and is popular as a quick top coat, but it has a short working time. When does a concrete floor need grinding before coating?
Almost always. Grinding (or shot-blasting) opens up the concrete so the coating can key in — a smooth, sealed or contaminated slab won't bond and the floor can peel. Why do epoxy floors peel or fail?
